First Impressions: Azul Airlines A330-900neo Business Class (Wow!)

The long-haul business class product aboard Azul Airlines’ A330-900neo is so superb I’d go thousands of miles to do it again. The only problem with my flight from Viracopos airport, outside of Sao Paulo, to Fort. Lauderdale was that it was over far too soon.

Azul Airlines A330-900neo Business Class – Superb

I flew to Brazil just to return (the same day) to Azul. I had wanted to fly Azul’s A330-900neo for over a year and receding pandemic conditions finally made the trip possible. There are so few Azul reports online that I had very little idea what to expect.

I have to say the trip started on a questionable note. It was a long drive from Sao Paulo to Viracopos and I arrived at an almost deserted VCP airport. I found the correct counter to check in for my flight to Florida, but the agent did not speak English. Thanks to Google Translate, I was able to get my boarding pass and make sure the lounge was closed … due to coronavirus.

But once on board, my questionable first impressions quickly changed. The A330neo business class cabin is beautiful, with 1-2-1 seats using Recaro CL6710 business seats (just like TAP Air Portugal) and soft colors.

The crew were young and beautiful, and in my book beauty is more than physical appearance. Indeed, the crew were kind, conscientious and attentive (and they spoke English very well). They were a little amused by all the photos I took, but were beaming with pride when I told them it was my first time piloting Azul.

Dinner was served after take off and started with a mix of nuts and drinks and was followed by a nicely arranged meal on a platter with warm bread, salad and a main course of fish.

The dessert had three choices and I got my request for cheese and ice cream, both as tasty as they look:

Before landing, breakfast was offered which included an omelet, cereal, yogurt and a croissant. Everything was delicious, but I have great regret. The menu didn’t mention espresso or cappuccino so I didn’t even ask. Turns out it was available… I missed my favorite coffee! I guess I’ll have to fly Azul again soon …

I used miles for this flight as part of a larger itinerary, but keep in mind that you can buy tickets for around $ 750 one way to Fort. Lauderdale which I find is a superb price.

My first flight on Azul was almost perfect. I’ll include additional details about onboard entertainment, amenity kits, and more in my full review, but expect to be impressed with Azul. I certainly was!
