Governor Laura Kelly cuts ribbon for upper boiler expansion project at Hutchinson

Today, Governor Laura Kelly joined Superior Boiler to cut the tape for their new 73,000 square foot facility – for a total business investment of $ 2,786,000 – in Hutchinson, Kansas.

“The expansion of Superior Boiler in Kansas is further proof that our new way of doing business is working. ” Governor Laura Kelly said. “We will continue to invest in our business recruitment tools and work with our local partners to become the number one business destination in the country.

Superior Boiler considered several states before choosing to relocate its subsidiary from Richmond, Virginia, to Hutchinson in 2020. These operations will now occupy a 73,000 square foot building in the industrial park of Hutchinson Airport, the site of the today’s celebration.

The Hutchinson factory currently employs 135 people. They employ a total of 141 Kansans on all government sites. In addition, the company plans to hire 15 additional workers as part of its growth plan for the Hutchinson plant.

“Superior Boiler had a lot of great options, but they ultimately chose to bring these jobs to Kansas,” Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland said. “We are delighted to see the company’s commitment to adding skilled workers to the Hutchinson community, and pleased that Superior Boiler has recognized Kansas’ reputation as the best state in the country for business.”
