Illinois Gaming Board Endorses Officials at Hard Rock Casino Rockford

ROCKFORD – Hard Rock Casino Rockford took another important step set to become a reality on Wednesday as Illinois Gaming Board officials approved a slew of companies, executives, managers and key owners needed to operate the casino.

Among those who got the approval were James Allen, CEO of Hard Rock International LLC, Jon Lucas, COO of Hard Rock, and Dan Fischer, owner of Dotty’s gaming café chain, who is the main investor. behind the project.

Last month, the Gaming Board gave the green light for a temporary casino project which will open at the former location of Giovanni’s Restaurant and Convention Center, 610 N. Bell School Road. Construction of the temporary $ 8.8 million casino on the 37,790 square foot site is expected to be completed within 90 to 120 days. It is expected to feature 736 slot machines and two restaurants.

Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara said an extraordinary amount of “work, time and energy” has gone behind the scenes to bring the casino project to this point.

The temporary casino is expected to operate for approximately two years while the permanent $ 311 million Hard Rock Casino Rockford is under construction. This project has yet to obtain additional approval before construction can begin at the entrance to Interstate 90 and East State Street at the former location of the Clock Tower Resort.
