MALICIOUS INJURIES, 2022-07080245 N. Barton St. at Fairfax Drive. At approximately 10:27 p.m. on July 8, police were dispatched to report an assault. Upon arrival, the male victim was determined to be walking south on N. Barton Street when suspect one struck him with an unknown object, knocking him to the ground. Suspect Two then brandished a gun, threatened the victim and demanded his property. The victim screamed for help and the suspects fled the scene on foot without the victim’s belongings. A survey of the area for the suspects returned negative results. The victim was slightly injured and was treated at the scene by paramedics. Suspect One is described as a black male in his twenties, slim build, about 5ft 7in tall, with short black hair, light colored shirt and jeans. Suspect 2 is described as a black male in his twenties, slim build, approximately 6 feet tall, with short black hair wearing a light colored shirt and jeans. The investigation is ongoing.
MARKING, 2022-07080144, 1500 block of N. Veitch St. Around 1 p.m. on July 8, police were dispatched to the observation of a brandishing. Arriving officers located the two vehicles involved and conducted a traffic stop in the area of Arlington Boulevard and N. Irving Street. The investigation determined that the occupants of the vehicles were on Arlington Boulevard when they were involved in a traffic dispute, in which the passenger of the suspect vehicle allegedly displayed what was believed to be a handgun. During the traffic stop, officers recovered an airsoft gun from inside the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle was also determined to have child occupants at the time of the incident. Manuel Rivas, 21, of Falls Church, Va., was arrested without incident and charged with brandishing and contributing to the delinquency of a minor (x2).
MARKING, 2022-07080158, 700 block of S. Dickerson Street. Around 2:57 p.m. on July 8, police were dispatched to the observation of a brandishing. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victim and suspect were involved in two separate verbal arguments inside an apartment building. During the initial argument, the victim alleged that the suspect showed a firearm. Arriving officers have identified the parties involved and the investigation is ongoing.
FLIGHT, 2022-07100067, 900 block of N. Cleveland St. At around 3:50 a.m. on July 10, police were dispatched to report a dispute. Upon arrival, it was determined that a verbal argument had occurred between known individuals inside a residence, during which the male suspect allegedly stole the female victim’s property before fleeing the scene. . The victim then contacted the suspect at his home and attempted to recover his property. During both incidents, the suspect allegedly pushed a witness to the ground. Joseph Ammen, 25, of Arlington, Va., has been charged with robbery and assault and battery (x2). He was held without bail.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 2022-07090118, 1100 block of S. Hayes St. At around 11:36 a.m. on July 9, police were dispatched to report that a robbery at a business had just occurred. As officers were on their way, the dispatcher advised that the suspect had entered a second business and started exposing himself. Responders located the suspect and took him into custody without incident. The investigation determined that the suspect entered the first business and hid goods there before fleeing on foot into the second business and exposing himself. During a search for the suspicious incident at the arrest, the stolen merchandise and alleged drug paraphernalia were recovered. Michael Shepherd, 47, of No Fixed Address, was arrested and charged with possession of Schedule I/II controlled substances, indecent exposure, petty larceny: shoplifting. He was held without bail.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 2022-07090174, 1200 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 4:26 p.m. on July 9, police were dispatched to report an exposure. Upon arrival, it was determined that the suspect entered the business and began looking at the merchandise before placing his hands in his pants and touching himself inappropriately. Responders located the suspect and took him into custody without incident. Khalid Benmana, 46, of Arlington, Va., was arrested and charged with public masturbation.
INDECENT EXPOSURE (Late), 2022-07090002, N. George Mason Drive to N. Henderson Road. Around 00:02 on July 9, the police were dispatched for the late finding of an indecent assault. Upon arrival, it was determined that at approximately 11:25 p.m. on July 8, the female victim was walking in the area when she saw the unknown male suspect walking behind her. The suspect exposed himself and began to masturbate before fleeing the area on foot. The suspect is described as a Middle Eastern male, wearing a red shirt and red shorts. The investigation is ongoing.
BIG (Significant) MONEY ATTEMPT, 2022-07080230, block 500 of N. Glebe Rd. At approximately 9:40 p.m. on July 8, police were dispatched to report a break and enter into a business. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect attempting to break into a key safe and took him into custody without incident. The investigation determined that a witness saw the suspect attempt to open the doors of vehicles parked on company property. During a search incident to the arrest, suspected narcotics were found on his person. Anthony McCreary, 32, of No Fixed Address, was charged with possession of burglary tools, attempted grand theft (automobile) and possession of Schedule V.
