Business manager and executive assistant
Krista Smith moved from Student Affairs to Strategic Communications on January 17, 2022 to serve as Chief Commercial Officer and Executive Assistant.
This role manages all budgeting, purchasing, event coordination and strategic communications planning. Smith will also expand the department’s project management capabilities and serve as the department’s human resources liaison.
Smith has been a valued member of the UNCSA community since 2016, when she started as Executive Assistant to the Vice Provost for Student Affairs. Smith has proven his ability to work hard in a team, has shown great kindness to his colleagues and will be an asset to the strategic communications department.

Creative Services Manager
Michelle Lee Festino left New York to join the Strategic Communications and Advancement teams in September 2021.
This new role encompasses creative direction and graphic design for both departments. As Creative Services Manager, Lee Festino is responsible for visually advancing UNCSA’s image through digital and print media while adhering to UNCSA brand standards consistently across all design media.
Lee Festino brings decades of experience to the role. She previously held positions as creative director for the publishing houses Time Inc., Rodale, Condé Nast and Hearst. His impressive portfolio includes a wide range of work, including art direction, brand identity, event concepts, digital and social content design, environmental graphics, magazine design and more.
Lee Festino moved quickly into his new role last semester overseeing all graphic design needs for “The Nutcracker” marketing and promotion. She has also contributed to direct mail campaigns for campus advancement and environmental graphics.
