Santa Clara University continues its partnership with Sleepme® to provide its student-athletes with the highest quality sleep possible

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sleepme, Inc., the parent company of sleep technology brand ChiliSleep, today announced the extension of its partnership with Santa Clara University.

Sleepme provided cooling sleep systems to the Broncos women’s soccer team last year to help student athletes sleep and perform better. Based on the success of the partnership, it will now include SCU’s men’s basketball program.

“Over the past year, sleepme has completely transformed my sleep to be more restful and energized, finally setting me up to feel my best when I walk the football field every day,” said the former United striker. Broncos Kelsey Turnbow, who currently plays for the San Diego Wave. Futbol Club of the National Women’s Football League, said. “I’m excited about the expansion of sleepme’s partnership with Santa Clara University’s Innovative Athletic Performance as it further optimizes sleep and performance for collegiate athletes.”

The Broncos reached the semifinals of the 2021 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Tournament after defeating No. 1 Duke University 2-1.

“Partnering with sleepme has helped our women’s soccer team perform better on and off the pitch,” said SCU Senior Associate Athletic Director Ryan Holleman. “Quality sleep is the foundation of athletic development, and we’re thrilled our men’s basketball team has another tool in their prep toolbox.

While the women’s soccer program started its season in August, the Broncos men’s basketball team will kick off its opener next month.

“We want to reach multiple players, sport profiles and programs to have a positive impact on student-athlete sleep and athletic performance,” said Tara Youngblood, CEO and co-founder of sleepme. “College athletes often have intense gaming experience, much like professional athletes, while attending school full time. This equates to more stress and less sleep. Poor sleep can affect mental health and lead to injury in athletes. By supporting athletes, we reduce the risk of injury and depression.

Student-athletes are particularly vulnerable to lack of sleep or sleep deprivation. This can be due to excessive worrying, parental demands, and school and work obligations. Sleep deprivation can have adverse effects on the brain, body, mood, and cognition, and it can impair emotional regulation in student-athletes.

“This age group has so much to offer,” added Youngblood. “While better sleep can help even a little, we all need to help young people sleep better.

ChiliSleep sleep systems can cool up to 55°F and allow users to find the right temperature for quality sleep. Sleep systems include the Cube™, OOLER® and Dock Pro™. For more information on our refreshing sleep systems, please visit www.sleep.me.
