Job summary:
This position is located in Charlotte, North Carolina. The person hired for this position will work out of the Charlotte satellite office and must be within commutable distance of Charlotte, NC to be eligible.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, in accordance with system office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside a reasonable distance from their duty station.

The Executive MBA Programs at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, a globally recognized graduate program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is seeking a Senior Associate Director. This position, based in Charlotte, NC, will focus on all Executive MBA formats, primarily Kenan-Flagler’s newest offering: the Charlotte Executive MBA. These innovative cohort-based programs for working professionals include multiple learning environments:
• In-person classes, including orientation for new students
• Course engagement with interactive case studies and collaborative activities
• Frequent executive sessions and semi-annual immersive impact weekends to develop business and leadership skills

In addition to the core core curriculum, the programs also offer a series of electives, including international and experiential learning opportunities. The Senior Associate Director works with students throughout their MBA journey: from orientation, through the program, to graduation.

The Senior Associate Director serves in a critical leadership position focused on the continuous improvement of student satisfaction and relationship building for UNC Kenan-Flagler’s Executive MBA programs. This person manages many aspects of program delivery for these formats: Evening Executive MBA, Weekend Executive MBA, Charlotte Executive MBA. The person in this position who is the face of the Charlotte Executive MBA, which runs nights and weekends, must lead and manage a team to deliver top-notch MBA programs while effectively ensuring student satisfaction. The role is onsite when EMBA students in Charlotte are in session and should oversee budget, operations, staff and student management. This position works closely with Executive MBA team members from all strategic business units to develop and implement strategies to ensure students have a top-notch experience, resulting in a very high level of student satisfaction.

This role develops and executes opportunities for student engagement, enrichment, and other program enhancements and plays a central role in program delivery.

The Senior Associate Director reports to the Senior Director of Executive MBA Programs. This role has substantial contact with all Executive MBA students, regardless of program. The Senior Associate Director directly manages the MBA Student Engagement Events Manager (Charlotte). He/She/They provide direct and indirect supervision and guidance to the Student Engagement team and are responsible for managing key working relationships with business school constituents, partnerships and campus .

Minimum education and experience requirements:
Relevant post-baccalaureate degree required (or equivalent foreign degree); for applicants demonstrating comparable independent educational or pedagogical activities associated with the provision and/or management of student support functions, will accept a relevant bachelor’s degree (or overseas degree equivalent) and at least 1 year of relevant replacement experience.

• Three years of professional experience

• Exceptional communication skills, both written and presentation
• Solid approach focused on customer service
• Ability to manage and organize multiple priorities and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Proven ability to develop effective cross-functional teams
• Significant project management experience to deliver innovative and transformational programming to MBA students
• Ability to handle difficult situations, while maintaining a positive attitude
• Night and weekend work is required
• Occasional travel is required
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with at least five years of related work experience and demonstrated leadership in higher education, higher management education and/or progressive experience in public/private industry is preferred
• Preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience in higher education, including working with students, faculty and staff
• Additionally, preferred experiences include program management and execution, budget management, team member management, direct supervision, and significant experience working independently with independent decision-making
